• About Me

Hi there! My name is Rian Macpherson (they/she), and I am a queer, chronically ill writer born and raised in rural Kentucky, where I currently live with three cats and a dog, on the rightful lands of the Shawnee and Osage peoples.

I write fiction that primarily focuses on LGBTQ+ characters and their interpersonal relationships, ranging in genre from romance and erotica to fantasy and horror. My work often features elements of BDSM, which I am dedicated to portraying respectfully and accurately. I love exploring different themes in my work, but often find myself gravitating towards exploring power dynamics, religious trauma, gender and sexuality, and poverty and class struggles.

Most of my short fiction will be available on this site to read, for free, in perpetuity. I am working on some long-form projects that I hope to be able to self-publish within the next year or so.

Until then, everything I write will be available here, or on my Patreon. Patreon members will also receive Patreon-exclusive content, such as serialized WIPs and behind-the-scenes content for projects I’m working on.

If you want to support me, but aren’t sure about a monthly subscription, I also have a tip jar on Ko-Fi where you can make a one-time donation to support my work.

Fandom with a capital F is my first love, and I have lots of fannish interests. You can read my fanfiction on my AO3 page here.

I also (sporadically) write a newsletter about witchcraft and spirituality, Tales from a Folk Witch.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually either reading, gardening, casting spells and slinging cards, or playing Baldur’s Gate 3.
